If your suit or other pleading has been returned to you having been marked as not able to make service as the party has not been located, we may be able to assist.
The Sheriff’s Office is sometimes unable to serve a suit at the address that has been provided and an investigation is required to first find your defendant, and then serve him with your papers. After the Sheriff’s Office has returned your suit as being unable to be served, then your attorney may request that the court appoint a private process server to locate and serve your defendant. It is best to appoint an agency rather than an individual, so that any investigator employed by the agency can make service of process.
Once our agency is appointed, we conduct an investigation to determine the potential location of your subject beforehand, and we then go his location and personally deliver the suit. If requested, we will also return to you a notarized affidavit stating that the service was made and in what manner.
