A number of my clients are attorneys, and this message is especially for you. I’ve mentioned in past newsletters how easy it is for criminals to steal your identity. Sometimes all they need is your full name and date of birth.

Many of your law firm websites, as well as the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, list this information as part of your biography, in addition to your birthplace, where and when you graduated, even where you currently reside and personal information on your family. Many even include photographs.

When you update your website in the future, I would recommend removing such personal information, particularly your date of birth.
